Overview

The Department of Mathematics at Vivekanandha Arts & Science College for Women was established in 2014, initially offering an undergraduate program. In 2017, the department expanded its academic offerings with the introduction of a postgraduate program. With a team of nine highly qualified faculty members, the department is dedicated to providing a strong foundation in mathematics and equipping students with essential skills for academic and professional success. Through its vibrant club, ‘Beyond Infinity’, the department offers students opportunities to participate in various competitions, enhancing their problem-solving abilities and showcasing their talents. Regular seminars and workshops keep students updated on the latest mathematical developments, featuring insights from experts and faculty. Overall, the department fosters a comprehensive learning environment that supports both academic excellence and personal growth.

Programmes Eligibility for Admission Duration Course Intake
B.Sc. Mathematics A Pass in the Higher Secondary Examination of Tamil Nadu Higher Secondary Board or some other Board accepted by the Syndicate as equivalent thereto with Mathematics (other than Business Mathematics) as one of the subjects. 3 Years 60
M.Sc. Mathematics A candidate who has passed B.Sc., Mathematics/ B.Sc., Mathematics (Computer Applications) degree of this University or any of the above degree of any other University accepted by the Syndicate equivalent thereto, subject to such condition as may be prescribed therefore are eligible for admission to M.Sc., Degree Programme and shall be permitted to appear and qualify for the Master of Science (M.Sc.) Degree Examination in Mathematics of this University. 2 Years 36

To emphasis the students to apply the theoretical Mathematics to bring out as Mathematical models. To integrate ethical values and social responsibility into academic pursuits.
